Information about Australian town Lismore

The town of Lismore is located in northeastern Australia in the province of New South Wales. If we give a closer look at the geographical location of Lismore, we will notice that it is situated in an area of Bundjalung which is an aboriginal area of Australia. There are evidences which suggest that the aboriginal people in Lismore came from the northern side of Australia about 8,000 years ago. However, these are just assumptions and there is no solid proof to suggest that this fact is real.  It is believed that the aboriginal people called this place as Tuckurimbah that means "glutton".

•    If we look at the geographical location of Lismore, we will conclude that it is situated on the highway of Bruxner and it is located at the point where Leycester Creek and Wilsons River meets each other. The capital city of the state which is Sydney is situated 764 km towards the south of Lismore town. The Queensland's capital city Brisbane is located 200 km northward towards the town of Lismore.

•    The climatic condition of Lismore town is mild warm for the whole year. The temperature of Lismore town ranges between 19 and 40 Celsius. Because of this type of climate and geographical location, the Lismore town has humid conditions during the summer period of the year. There is no environmental problem faced by the town of Lismore, but it faces the problem of flooding in the rainy season. If we look at the history of floods in Lismore town, we will see that in the year 1974 it had worst flood in its whole history.

•    The City of Lismore as per the census of 2006 had a population of 30,086. It has been observed that the population of Lismore grew at a steady pace as seen in the census conducted between 2001 and 2006.  The 2.6% of the total population of Lismore town is about the aboriginal people of the Australian origin. The mean age of the natives of Lismore is 36 years which is one year more than the states mean average age of 35 years of New South Wales.

It has been seen that the urban population of Lismore town is 65%. The rural population of Lismore town is 5%. If we look at the education of the Lismore town, we will see that there are 26 primary schools present in this town, 2 of these schools are secondary schools of non-governmental type, 3 schools of secondary type in Lismore town and 9 primary schools which are of non-governmental type.
