Best route to travel to udupi from bangalore and the total distance in kilometers?

Doylestown Hi am planning to travel from Bangalore to Udupi..So would like to understand the best Route to travel is via Sakaleshpur, or Shimoga or Coorg Newport Though the shortest route is via Tumkur arisekere, Most Volvo buses from Bangalore ply to Mangalore through Hassan - SaklespurUnless there is any compulsion to go through Mysore Madikere route is not needed. Shimoga is too far off and only those who have Jog falls in their itinerary prefer this route.
